Granola and Granny Panties the Future of Fashion?

I'm re-watching the finale of Project Runway. Was I happy with the final outcome? Investing in watching the show week and week, you begin to root for certain designers and detest others. I knew after the group collection challenge where the Mean Girls basically talked smack about M.C. on the runway to save their skins, my love/hate relationship with Ivy and Gretchen began. Week after week Michael and Mondo were winning challenges and Gretchen was having a borderline nervous breakdown. I guess having a breakdown worked, she pulled out a nice collection. If you showed me her collection and said it was Peach's, I would have been full of compliments. BUT Project Runway painted her as the big Fake B., you can only love to hate her.

How do I rate the others? I loved Andy's collection, I just wished he choose more colors, I mean something in black would have done a world of good. Mondo's I was totally on the fence. A friend was like are you kidding me.. It's Fashion.. Its totally YSL. I loved the finale dress with the black and white polka dots.

So when the big debate was Jessica and Heidi VS Michael and Nina I knew Gretchen was already anointed the winner. Heidi didn't look too thrilled when delivering the news. Nina and Michael are now preaching that "Ready To Wear Off The Rack" is the new High Fashion. Its reality tv and when I go to the mall I don't think I will be seeing her cloths on the racks at Macy's. So her collection will be sold on piperline.com. I'm a boy. nuff said.

So while it was fun to watch every week and add as friends on facebook. Lifetime wants us to get a job now with Super Nanny oops, sorry Fairy Job Mother and this season will be saved on my ipod just for fun.

Project Runway - Sewing Techniques and The Bitchy Bullies

I love watching TV shows in a marathon format. Project Runway is my Friday guilty pleasure. The most recent episode of Project Runway has taken us to the final lead up to Fashion Week. I think I can safely say this season was about sewing techniques and bitchy bullies.

I totally can relate to the self taught sewers on PR. I had to teach myself how to sew when I was about 16 years old. My mother ordered a sewing machine my junior year of high school, I had already started to focus on what colleges I would like to attend and fashion design was what I wanted to focus on. If you had to clock the amount of sewing I did prior to my first day in draping class, I would say about 8 hours total. So when I hear the queen bees of the work room saying how terrible this person sews and that person sews, I can totally relate to the Michael C and D, AJ and the rest. Yes I too had to deal with an Ivy and the sewing mafia. However, I wasn't on a TV show, I was in school and I was learning and fine tuning my craft.

Watching PR week to week, I get the sense that this season there was so much time spent talking smack rather than creating great clothes. I mean the show stopper dress was a draped halter toga from Michael C. He made great clothes this seasons despite all the green tea flavored hater-aide and bitter brownies Ivy and Grethcen were serving up for everyone. This season all I can remember are pants, cropped pants, shorts and poncho styled jackets and tops. I guess I was hoping to see the great tailoring skills and all the risks taken from previous seasons.

This I know so far, the final 4 are Michael C, Mondo, Andy and Gretchen. One person will not show (but we all know they did show) at Fashion Week. The remaining three will battle it out for the winner of Season 8. At this point, does it matter who the winner really is? These are my favorite outfits from all of them. I can't wait to see what Nina and Michael have to say about the clothes.
