I’ve been passively trolling YouTube lately, watching uploaded k-pop videos and a new trend of kpop reactions from English speaking fans. Some video’s are entertaining , some not so much. Its obvious that some reactions are mainly just to get hits. It wouldn’t hurt if you looked up the group and the members. The best example is a poster who was like, I’m going to review Nu’est – Face. She proceeds to say that she’s not sure if they are a rookie group and hasn’t seen their previous video. If she did a little bit of Wikipedia she would have found out that “Face” is their debut single and video. FAIL.
I forgive , because the decision is mine to just click another video and watch someone else. Today was interesting because I watched one of my favorite reactor’s video. Ironically it was for Nu’est. At the beginning of the video they started with a rant about how people have been bothering them to do a Nu’est video. A while back in another video they said, they already had seen the Face video and will not be doing it. So rather than just leaving it at that, they decided to do a reaction video to Nu’est – Action. The video starts with them just ranting how stressed out they were from all the requests and the typical YouTube .. whoa is me, I’m burdened to do videos. You’ve only been around for 4 months. Its hardly a burden, tell that to Ryan Higa and the rest of the YouTube supastarzs.
So they rant for a while and then proceed to do the reaction video. At this point, all they do is insult the video by comparing it to other kpop idol’s videos. Oh is this a Shinee video, F(x) , EXO.. the comparisons go on. Its obvious that what they were doing was not for the love of kpop but for the love of their ego’s. Yes, I’m being a bit of an ANTI netizen but I have good reason. I couldn’t stomach what they were doing and just closed the video.
It felt a bit Déjà vu because those two reminded me of those other hateful girls from seoulbeats. Ellie sorta changed her ways and Nia just dropped off the netasphere. Because of this, I kinda have a reluctance to see what they will be reviewing next. I did find another channel that I’m hopeful for. A fanboy and fan girl from the UK. They are cheeky and witty and just plain enjoyable watch.
So life goes on in YouTube, just unsubscribe , un favorite , unlike and move on to someone you will like to subscribe to, favorite and like. Haha, Winning!!!!
